ABOUT US
The Mmabana Arts, Culture & Sport Foundation is a non-profit organisation responsible for the promotion and development of arts, culture and indoor artistic sport activities in the North West Province. It came into existence as a result of a merger between the former Mmabana Cultural Foundation and the North West Arts Council. Mmabana, which translates into "mother of the children", is both a production house and an academy of the arts.
Mmabana Foundation operates from the platinum province, North West with four centres located in Taung, Mafikeng, Tlhabane and Lehurutshe, and is renowned for producing artists that are nationally and internationally recognised.
NATURE OF BUSINESS
The Mmabana Foundation is both an academy of the arts and a production house. As an academy, it offers tuition in music, drama, dance, dance sport, creative arts and artistic sports. As a production house, it provides a platform for professional artists to present performances in music, drama, dance, dance sport, artistic sports and to display their creative art exhibits.
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
The Mmabana Foundation, hereinafter referred to as the MACSF (Mmabana Arts, Culture and Sport Foundation) is a Schedule 3c Entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 as amended. Mmabana Foundation is fully committed to the principles of fairness, discipline, independence, accountability, transparency and social responsibility associated with good corporate governance.
The Mmabana Foundation accepts the principles and firm recommendations aet out in the 2002 King Code of Corporate Practices and Conduct (King II), and comply with the additional requirements of the Public Finance Management Act and the Treasury Regulations.

MMABANA SUPPORT LEARNER'S CAREER EXHIBITION
Mmabana Arts Foundation through its social responsibility support the staging of the learners career exhibition to be held at Pella Matlhako on the 3rd March 2012. The participating learners are limited to only 10 villages.
The success of the 2012 exhibition will see the extension of the exhibition to all the Moses Kotane West villages in 2013.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS: COLLABORATION WITH ARTISTS
The Mmabana Arts Foundation 2012 plan request for proposals for the collaboration with the North West Artists. The aim of the plan is to ensure 365 days of productins within the Mmabana Centres. This follows the State of the Province Address by which the Premier assured the Nation to revive Mmabana to its glory days.

Mmabana has been appointed by the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture to administer the roll-out of the National Youth Service Programme known as the TrendSetter Initiative.

SCHOOL SPORT IN THE NORTH WEST GET A THUMBS UP
Department of Sport, Arts & Culure and North West Department of Education & Training have signed a Momerandum of Agreement regarding the School Sport.
Mmabana Arts, Culture & Sport Foundation has been identified an implementing arm for this agreement.

MMABANA ARTS FOUNDATION GIVES COMMUNITY ARTS CENTRES MILEAGE
Mmabana Arts Foundation is given Community Arts Centres recognition. About 250 Artists enrolled with the Community Arts Centres are attending Workshops in respect of Drama, Video, Films, Music and Dance.
Workshops are conducted under the banner of North West Platinum Jazz Festival.
